Anglos of India- A Poem on a Race

ANGLOS OF INDIA: WILL THE RACE SURVIVE?

                                                                                     by Warren Brown

The dark shores of India

Beckoned the young and the brave.

In sixteen hundred British merchants to India came.

Soldiers followed for adventure and Indian fame.

The traders now set up in India four colonies

To implement the trade Charter policies.

It was in this age that our race was born

The first young Anglos of the new dawn.

When young Britons took

native Indian girls for their brides

All the girls' parents would cast them aside.

The outcast lady's issue would now forever be

An Anglo-Indian in History.

With the genes of his British father in his blood

The young Anglo was now misunderstood.

Why did the Anglo never feel at home?

Even in India the land of peace and piety,

He was never fully accepted in Indian society.

Anglo-Indian Legends Hall of Fame

Include Sir Cliff Richard and Englebert Humperdinck,

Great celebrities who have made a name.

The next generation of Anglo-Indians step in with a mission,

To fulfil, the glorious Anglo-Indian Vision.

Anglo-Indians were born of mixed parentage

on the wild, untamed shores of an Indian stage,

Whose native language even at home is English.

Will the race survive? Yes, we can only wish!
