Star Gazing

Gazing up into the sky,

a vast expanse of bluish grey,
adds to the dullness of the day,
and by-and-by a shining light,
tiny star, burning bright,
a signal for the fading sun,
to rest his head, his work is done,

and slowly slowly darkness creeps,
while the sun is fast asleep,

and one by one the stars appear,
at once so far and yet so near,

never will the sky be so bright,
or lit up by stars as on this night.
