RESTRAINT

These dark and brittle splendors,

These sleek and bitter shards,

With necks longer than most

Like sunflowers tilting to one singular blaze

Bobbing their thick-cheeked beauty in a single wave-

What cherub’s breath could fan such a fatherly ambition?

I haven’t known you to amble on past my pale dimpled legs,

Your gold stacked bracelets tinkling.
