Fickle Love

Love is but a fickle thing,
Though it can provide a temporary solace.
Sweet melodies that the heart can sing,
Should never begin to control us.
Although, when I look around at some I see,
What love seems to do so frequently,
It causes a person to leave behind,
Devoted friends that feel your absence,
That once lost, are not so easy to find.
And become part of your subconscious.
Love is but a fickle thing,
It can end at any time.
But friends a lifetime of joy can bring,
So don't hang them out to dry.
You may need them when times are rough,
When matters of the heart become too tough.
Don't place true love over the love of a friend,
They should be equal,
Or you may loose both in the end.
