Diwali

Diwali Diwali was a wonderful festival.

it was a perfect carnival,

for people who loved bright beauty and bright silence

And the light created a wonderful and cheerful and wonderful ambience.

Lord Rama had come in his chariot flying,

To his kingdom in darkness.

But the people welcomed the righteous king,

 with a darkness dispelling brightness.

But if the Lord came in the present,

the visit he would surely resent.

For he would be attacked with rockets and bombs,

And the pollution and noise would turn him into a living tomb.

Alas! Now where has our Diwali gone?

The festival of lights has turned into a festival of clamour.

With people having a thousand crackers showing off their splendour,

The joy of the people who loved the silent and bright beauty has been torn.
