Covet of the Trees

Covet of the Trees

A sudden breeze upon the trees
seeking a betrayal of fate.
For magma dreams are
carried in impetuous schemes
to burn and rise like a
phoenix anew.
Then to fall like the rain
and become morning dew.
Only to be caught by the Sun
once again, if they could just
see.
Whether it be a shimmer,
or maybe just a glimmer,
the morning light
won't let them be.
First one's to fall
are the first one's to rise.
Leaving the earth to fly
through the skies.
Flame engulfed wings
now scorch all the things
that once tied them down
so deep in the ground.

And reaching free
above crystal sea.
And hanging in clouds
where mystery enshrouds.
With roots scorched
and leaves torched.
From a pile of ashes
to a drop of dew.
In the sunlight it flashes,
their dreams shining through.
With such chimera held dear,
a tree's betrayal of fear
leads to the daydream
of forgetting what's real.

That a tree is just a tree
and in no way will rise.
Keeping ties with the earth
while kissing the skies.
Feeling the Suns gentle embrace
upon it's chlorophyll face.
A thought he does constantly chase,
to fly in the sky, to take the Sun's place.
