Borrowed Serenity

Lost in a world of rage and turmoil Storms of desolation swirling high overhead Barren landscape devoid of soul Screams unheard and tears not shed A whisper to the anguished cries of tear-stained pillows Bloodless oaths and odes to unknown gods Muttered into sweat-soaked mattresses Across bast distances of razor-blade hail An angel stands in borrowed serenity Warm and inviting arms outstretched Begging and beckoning the wicked ever onward Crawling toward your phantom kiss Dragging tattered wings across scorched earth Struggling, surviving my path laid to you Pat bitter enchantments of forlorn scarred dreams Seeking truth found solely in your embrace Within your grasp I break through the chains In you I find my validation, my reason I find myself breathing life, breathing you, once more The darkness slowly fades to gray As silver wings spread whole
